Fault recording device plays an important role in ensuring the safe operation of power system. Fault recording is mainly used for dynamic recording and fault analysis of generator, transformer, line and generator transformer group.

To understand the fault recording device, we must start from the basic. The front side of the fault recorder is mainly composed of 7-inch LCD, indicator light and key. There are four indicator lights on the device, which are located under the display, namely "power light, running light, wave recording light and fault light". These four indicators directly feed back the working status of the device.

Power light: red means the device is live, and the power light is on for a long time. When the device is powered off, the power indicator is off.

Running light: green indicates normal operation of the device, flashing once per second; when the device crashes, the indicator does not flash; when the device is powered off, the indicator does not light up.

Recording light: the color of the indicator light is green. When the device starts recording, the indicator light is on. After the recording is reset, the indicator light goes out.

Fault light: when the fault recorder has internal fault, the indicator light will be on and the color is green; when the device is normal, the indicator light will be off.

When the fault recording device is running, its working state can be fed back on the panel, and the operation function or running state can be indicated by the color and light change.
